About
FAN FUNDED FORUM is Bob Slayer’s blog…
I advise a number of artists, record labels, artist managers and companies on their fan funding strategies. If you are thinking about Fan Funding please drop me a line for a chat, I am totally independent and am happy to discuss the pros and cons of all options from the many Fan Funding sites through to independent strategies.
WHO?
I am an artist manager, a tour manager, video director, promoter etc
For the last seven years I have managed all aspects of Electric Eel Shock, a Rock and Roll band from Japan. EES have launched several Fan Funding projects including the funding of their last two albums, raising $20,000 from fans independently and then more recently raising $50,000 through SellaBand in record time. In Jan 2010 we launched a campaign through Pledge Music.
I have advised many SellaBand artists and was also involved in the restructuring of SellaBand’s business model to be more flexible, not take any rights and make revenue sharing optional.
I am a firm believer that Fan Funding is set to play an increasingly important part in the music industry as well as other areas of creativity. I also believe that for Fan Funding to work it is essential to be creative and make it an interesting and enjoyable experience for both artist and fan.

Hey Bob, do you have a Twitter account? We’re gonna launch the project tonight so we will be active for your followers to check out.
1You totally missed ArtistShare.com. They actually were the inspiration for most of these sites that you have listed. Started in 2003 – won Grammys – etc..
